Brave New Theaters
Bypassing conventional theatrical distribution altogether, Brave New Theaters links film-makers directly with related interest groups, providing the tools to organise and advertise screenings. The site, which largely covers documentary and political films, provides a means for a film-maker to advertise their films to potential hosts, sell them a screening copy (usually a DVD), publicise screenings and reserve tickets.

Digital Screen Network
Digtial cinema removes almost all print costs and allows an Exhibitor to take risks with content by changing programmes rapidly in response to popularity. The UK is at the forefront, with the 240-screen UK Film Council backed Digital Screen Network. The network funds the installation of digital projectors in return for Exhibitors committing to showing a certain proportion of ‘specialised films’. These films can include work from local and community organisations. The UKFC Distribution and Exhibition department will consider any film for inclusion on its specialised film list, whether from Producers or Distributors, although it is up to the Exhibitor to then book the film.

Withoutabox
Owned by IMDB, a subsiduary of Amazon, ‘Withoutabox’ is a valuable resource for festival promoters, with tools for online festival submission and festival promotion. For film-makers it looks at more ways you can reach audiences and monetise your work.
